Well, trees fall into one of two categories: angiosperms and\ngymnosperms, both of which have monumental differences that can be seen by the\nnaked eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angiosperms Versus Gymnosperms<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Angiosperms <\/em>are flowering plants that produce seeds that are enclosed within an ovary, such as fruit, flowers, and endosperm. Gymnosperms <\/em>are the opposite in that they produce seeds that are not enclosed, and instead, \u201cnaked.\u201d These naked seeds often come in the form of cones, such as the pine cones you find on the ground during fall. Below is a comparison of the two types of trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wood Type<\/strong> \u2013 Hardwood<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tissue <\/strong>\u2013 Endosperm produced during triple fusion, referred to as Triploids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reproduction <\/strong>\u2013 Usually in flowers, they can be unisexual or bisexual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gymnosperms:<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Kingdom <\/strong>\u2013 Plantae<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Definition <\/strong>\u2013 Non-flowering trees that produce unenclosed or \u201cnaked\u201d seeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeds <\/strong>\u2013 Unenclosed, bare, and usually found on scales, leaves, or in cone formation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life Cycle<\/strong> \u2013 Evergreen, perennial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaf Shape<\/strong> \u2013 Scale-formation and needle-like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wood Type<\/strong> \u2013 Softwood<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tissue <\/strong>\u2013 Endosperm produced before fertilization, referred to as Haploid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
